Aluminum is a durable and light weight solution for the unnecessarily heavy steel service trucks of years past. The forward-thinking engineers at JOMAC build truck bodies using exclusively 6000 series, military grade aluminum. Each aluminum truck body is guaranteed to be rust-free for life. Seriously.
JOMAC builds knuckle boom cranes unmatched in quality, longevity, and durability. Our knuckle boom cranes are designed and manufactured at our Ohio headquarters using 100% American-made parts and labor.
In addition to our standard line of hydraulic knuckle boom cranes, JOMAC will custom build for any unique set of customer requirements. JOMAC knuckle boom cranes feature the same special care and craftsmanship as our other powerfully light truck bodies and components.
All parts used on JOMAC knuckle boom cranes are sourced from American companies, which means a simpler repair and service process for the life of your crane.
With design and engineering expertise on staff, our team fabricates and builds to the highest standards to outperform the competition. Our knuckle boom cranes feature a worm drive rotation, which translates to a JOMAC crane footprint that is typically much smaller than that of mobile cranes built offshore. Our rotational system allows our cranes to be mounted just about anywhere when properly reinforced. Such versatility makes JOMAC cranes highly valued for custom applications.
Plus, all JOMAC Knuckle Booms come with a 10-Year Return to Factory Warranty on the structure of the unit.

More About Knuckle Boom Cranes
Knuckle Boom Cranes can also be referred to as articulated knuckle boom cranes or articulated cranes. The boom of the crane bends (or articulates) in the center, allowing for a swift back and forth movement of the load.
Knuckle Boom Cranes utilize hydraulic cylinders as the source of their lifting power. The utilization of hydraulic cylinders in your knuckle boom crane's construction provides many distinct advantages such as quicker load and faster movement of materials.
Knuckle Boom Cranes for Military and DOD Specifications
Our skilled engineering team is honored to produce custom, built-to-spec knuckle boom cranes for military applications.
At JOMAC, all of our cranes are built in-house, on-site at our Carrollton, OH headquarters, allowing us to completely customize any military knuckle boom crane request to satisfy DOD requirements.
We design each crane for military application on a per-project basis, and will custom design every knuckle boom crane to spec with 100% Made-in-the-USA parts, labor, and engineering.
Knuckle Booms With A Low-Pressure System
JOMAC knuckle boom cranes are designed with efficiency and longevity at the forefront.
That is why our knuckle boom cranes operate with a low-pressure, high-torque hydraulic system, drastically diminishing operating wear while increasing the crane lifetime.
Our knuckle boom cranes operate between 2500-3000 PSI, unlike other manufacturers exhausting high pressure systems set around 3500-4000 PSI. By utilizing low-pressure systems, the articulating crane will last longer and function more reliably due to the reduced operating expenditure, transferring the typical cost of repair to money in your pockets.

Knuckle Boom Crane Mounting Options And Advantages
At JOMAC, we offer several truck knuckle boom crane mounting configurations to perfectly complement your intended use for the crane.
We provide knuckle boom cranes with a worm gear rotation system, allowing all knuckle boom cranes to be mounted anywhere on a service truck.
Most knuckle boom crane manufacturers (and essentially all imported cranes) will utilize a rack and pinion set-up, which does not allow for rear-corner mounting. The rack and pinion protrudes from the side of a truck in rear-corner mounting set-ups, preventing a rear-corner mount from being possible.
Our worm gearbox allows JOMAC knuckle boom cranes to be mounted on the rear-corner and rear center, as well as behind-the-cab center and behind-the-cab corner, offering a complete knuckle boom crane solution for every industry.
Behind The Cab Mount
Our behind the cab mounting configuration for a knuckle boom crane utilizes A-frame outriggers, with the crane positioned between the truck frame rails.
If desired, the knuckle boom crane can be mounted in a corner behind the cab to free up space for air compressors installations or other necessary equipment.
Corner Mount
Corner mounting for a knuckle boom service truck crane will typically be at the rear of the truck body. This mounting configuration utilizes H-frame outriggers for stability support and outrigger extension on the mounted side.
Pedestal Mount For Tracked and Marine Knuckle Boom Cranes
Pedestal mounted knuckle boom cranes remove outriggers from the equation, as they are used in fixed installations, such as in manufacturing plants or onboard ships (in the case of offshore knuckle boom cranes).
JOMAC Knuckle Boom Crane Advantages
Counterbalance Safety Valves
The main boom and knuckle boom cylinders are equipped with pilot-operated, counterbalance valves. These valves are essential to the cylinder on the load holding sides.
The counterbalance valves provide useful benefits including:
- Securely holding the load during normal operation
- Providing protection in the event of a hydraulic system failure or hose break
- Controlling the metering of lowering crane functions
- Supplying thermal relief protection in the event of hydraulic oil expansion caused by heat
The boom extension cylinder has dual, pilot-operated check valves. These check valves lock the cylinder in position until an operator intentionally controls a function.
Overload Protection System
JOMAC knuckle boom cranes come standard-equipped with an overload protection system. This additional safety measure allows loads to be moved with peace of mind.
In the event of a crane being overloaded, the system will sense excess pressure and activate an alarm to notify the crane operator of the overload condition. The alarm will stop when the load is returned to a position within capacity.
We also offer an active overload system which provides a stop/cease of extension functions when the knuckle boom crane has been overloaded. Once relieved of weight that exceeded capacity, the crane will automatically reset to standard operating function.
Rotational System
JOMAC knuckle boom cranes have a rotational system built on a turntable bearing driven by a self-locking, worm gearbox.
The rotation is powered by a low-speed, high-torque motor allowing swift and easy cargo movement and placement.
Control Options
Our mobile cranes come standard with a 30 ft. remote control pendant with military spec toggle switches controlling all crane functions.
Optional upgrades for controls include an index finger trigger actuator, as well as a radio remote control.
The index finger trigger actuator controls both crane functions and crane operating speeds with one hand.
The radio remote control option provides completely free range of motion for an operator. Our radio remote control is FCC approved and uses a coding system to dismiss any possibility of accidental operation.
